Week by week

  1. Week 1

    Where you are, and the 7 numbers

    We look at how you research today, what you own, and why. Then we set up your checklist using the 7 numbers every company page starts with.

    You leave with: your personal checklist and 2 companies to study for the whole program.

  2. Week 2

    Cash flow, done properly

    Every box in the cash-flow model. How to anchor growth and margin on history, how to pick the return you want, and how to read the “What if” table.

    You leave with: a cash-flow model for both companies, with a reason for every number.

  3. Week 3

    Earnings, and when profit and cash disagree

    The earnings model, price versus growth, and the three usual reasons the two models split: buybacks, pay in stock, and heavy spending.

    You leave with: a one-sentence explanation of the gap on each company.

  4. Week 4

    Your cases and your price

    Bear, base and bull cases with real reasons. Then the most you'd pay today for the return you want. This is where a feeling becomes a number.

    You leave with: three cases and a “price I'd wait for” on both companies.

  5. Week 5

    Peers, and building a watchlist

    Compare each company with 2 or 3 rivals. Use the screener to find more to study. Learn to say no fast.

    You leave with: a watchlist of 10 companies and a 10-minute first-look routine.

  6. Week 6

    Your research note, and your routine

    Write your 1-page research note, present it to the group, and get feedback. Then set up a monthly routine to re-check your guesses after each earnings report.

    You leave with: 2 finished notes and a routine you can repeat on any company.
